Mt. Solmar Hiking Tips

To help you find your way up Mt. Solmar, local tour guide Enrique that owns a dog shelter at the base of the Naval base is your best best. Hikers need to pass through his property to reach the trailhead and he offers guided tours for a reasonable price. Dogs are welcome to join on the hike as well. As you make your way along the hike, keep an eye out for snakes along the trail. In order to reduce risk of any issues, Enrique or his assistant will regularly whistle to attract hawks that circle in the air and scare off any snakes. Plus, his dogs are trained to alert hikers if there are any snakes, too.  As you hike along the trail, be cautious with your footing to avoid missteps or falls. Don’t forget to bring your camera and take pictures of the beautiful vistas. At the top, the amazing Sea of Cortez and desert views are simply picture perfect.
