Is Vacationing in Mexico Possible?

Great news, vacationing in Mexico is possible right now! Mexico has been happily welcoming tourists to their country right now. Since June 1st 2020, the country’s hotels, resorts, airlines, and restaurants have been slowly opening up and welcoming tourists. They have been adding more sanitation and disinfecting protocols to make sure all employees and tourists will remain safe while still having a great vacation. Hotels and resorts in Mexico started welcoming tourists with limited occupancy, but now more tourists are allowed because they are following strict safety protocols for COVID. For example, Garza Blanca Resorts have added numerous health, safety, and sanitizing protocols at their Cancun, Cabo, and in Puerto Vallarta locations. To start, guests will have to have their temperature checked when they arrive at the resorts.  Next, all suites will be cleaned, sanitized, and disinfected thoroughly with the top hospital grade disinfectant between guests. Throughout the resorts, guests and staff in common areas will need to practice social distancing and wear face masks.

Are Public Beaches Open?

In Mexico, nearly all the public beaches are currently open, but each beach may have capacity limits. That will depend upon the number of COVID cases in a particular area. The beach hours may be different, too. However, it is very easy to follow social distancing and spread out at the many beautiful beaches in Mexico. Tourists can enjoy the warm sunshine and fresh air while practicing social distancing. In Mexico, nearly all of the restaurants are open, and seating has been rearranged to support social distancing recommendations. Some of the bars are not open yet unless they serve food. The restaurants and bars offer takeout and delivery options, and they may have different operating hours as well.

Airport & Airline Health Protocols

Many safety and health protocols have been added at the airports in Mexico. Currently, Mexico is not requiring tourists to bring medical reports with them when they vacation here. However, everyone will have to have their temperature checked, and then they will need to fill out a short questionnaire. You should never travel if you are not feeling well. New regulations have been added for the United States and Canada. For example, if you will be going home to the US, then you have to provide a negative antigen COVID test. To return to Canada, you must show a PCR test that is negative. All airports in Mexico are requiring social distancing and facemasks must be worn. Before tourists board the airplane, they will need to have their temperature checked. Next, during the flight facemasks must be worn by everyone, including children. In addition, the airplanes are sanitized and disinfected thoroughly between each flight so the airplane is clean and safer.

If I Get Sick On Vacation, What Happens?

What happens if you get sick on vacation? In Mexico, there are numerous hospitals and professional and licensed doctors in tourist destinations. Although healthcare is affordable in Mexico, you should purchase a temporary healthcare policy that will cover you if you get sick while traveling.
