Owning a timeshare property is supposed to be as flexible as you need, and very few all inclusive resorts make all inclusive plans compulsory. In many ways it goes against the grain of time share ownership, which is supposed to create a sense of a home away from home.

In the case that you have purchased a timeshare on a resort that is all inclusive only, you may find it difficult to be able to access the restaurants on site unless you buy an all inclusive pass or restaurant vouchers, however that does not stop you from preparing meals in your room or even inviting a private chef. Many resorts that are all inclusive only (rather than a combination of European plan and all inclusive) will offer timeshare guests the chance to buy vouchers so as to be able to use the restaurants on site, otherwise you will find that you will have to dine out.

Most all inclusive timeshare resorts offer both European plans (room only) and all inclusive plans, which enables timeshare owners to use the restaurants and charge their meals to their unit. In many cases, an all-inclusive timeshare resort will offer residents the opportunity to buy an all inclusive plan for a number of days (usually 3 or more days) or the whole time of their stay. This provides greater flexibility for timeshare members.

So, in the main, most timeshare resorts do not make all inclusive compulsory.
